Style is not only portraying what you are, but also taking pride in being what you are and where you are coming from.
I strongly believe that when celebrities get the opportunity of representing India on international platforms, film festivals or red carpet appearances, they should prefer wearing Indian, and not the D&Gs or Chanels.
And I was extremely delighted to see the pictures of the recent 66th Festival de Cannes, where Vidya Balan and Sonam Kapoor wore the most gorgeous Lehengas and sarees and were a true representation of Indian beauty and style. Both of them also wore traditional nose-rings ( called ‘nathni’) which was putting a very traditional Indian accessory on the Red-carpet and boy, they looked every bit of the Indian divas making a style statement at the same time.
Sometimes style is not just about brands or labels, it is rather a celebration of where you are coming from, what your roots are and where you belong to.
