A meal is always incomplete without a dessert and its always a sweet end to a meal with a sweet dessert, right ? So I made this easy and quick dessert to end up the meal perfectly. Living in France gives a lot many options in desserts and I really appreciate all the French desserts, but this time I wanted something with an Indian touch in it. We in India get balls that we call laddoo, they are made up of different things and are very popular as well. So here I decided to try the same with different ingredients and turned out much more than expected, and now I make them quite often.

Whenever I have to go to my Friends or some invitations this is something in my list that looks and tastes perfect as my share in the meal and I make sure to take enough with me.

Make them this Ganesh-Chaturthi and indulge in laddoos with some chocolate twist.

Makes around 28 – 30 Balls or Laddoos

Ingredients:

  • Desiccated dry coconut 400 grams,
  • A can Dulche de leche 400 grams
  • 3- 4 Spoons cocoa powder
  • A spoon of chocolate vermicelli

How easy can it be just 4 ingredients and that’s it.

The Recipe:

img_4490_thumbTake the Dulche de leche and empty in a bowl. You can buy this from the market.

Now start adding the dry desiccated coconut and keep mixing gently, Add the cocoa powder and mix again. Now gently add the coconut little every time so that the mixture is thick enough to bind. The quantity of coconut might be needed to be adjusted in order to get the desired batter. Also adjust the quantity of cocoa powder as per your taste, for me the above quantities worked fine. Cover the mixture and keep in the fridge for around 2 to 2.5 hours.Once set remove from fridge and make small balls of around half inch and coat some with cocoa powder, or vermicelli as you like, I coated a few with coconut also. This makes them look good as well.

These balls can be stored in fridge for 3 – 4 days.

Notes :

  • You can also add nuts like walnuts, pistachios or almonds if you like.
  • Make sure to use dry coconut and not fresh one ad fresh one will be more moist.
  • If the mixture is too sticky do not hesitate to add more coconut.

This makes a good desserts for occasions and festivals.

So are you trying them this Ganesh-Chaturthi?
