The Special Summer Readers’ Panel Meet up by Good Housekeeping ME@the Balance Cafe

In the times, where we are becoming so used to catching up the news online shoving away the newspapers, where the smartphones are revolutionising online shopping, catch ups being replaced by what’s app and Facetime and I can go on, but when it comes to magazines, I still prefer to go the traditional way and get myself the glossy paper mags to flip through browsing the amazing photographs, reading the articles, feeling the colours, enjoying the smell of new pages …. ahh I love magazines.

And it is great when a magazine goes out to build an active interaction with the readers, get them involved, tries to know what they want to read and do all this in rather interesting ways. And by doing so, the magazine that has become an absolute fav with not only me but innumerable other women is the Good Housekeeping Middle East.

I have been fortunate to have been a part of their Readers’ photoshoot where they feature the real women as models. And recently had another lovely experience of attending the Iftar organised by them for the Special Summer Edition Readers’ Panel at the Balance Café in Oasis Centre Mall.

I not only got an opportunity to interact with a bunch of interesting ladies but also with the magazine’s Editor Lena ter Laare and the Deputy Editor Michaela Williams who not only extended us all a warm welcome but also appreciated our opinions on what we would like to read in the future editions of the mags.

There were smiles. There was laughter. There were great conversations.

And above all, there was delicious yet healthy food prepared the Ayurvedic way as explained to us by the Head Chef of the Balance Café. It was amazing to learn how just changing some of the ingredients/cooking style can create a healthy but yummy meal.

All in all, it was a lovely evening of getting to know the people behind my favourite magazine, getting to meet new like-minded ladies and getting to learn about a new way of cooking food.

A big thank you and a big thumbs up to the Good Housekeeping for this commendable effort of connecting to your readers. Looking forward to the next meet up of the Readers’ Panel.

Which is your favourite magazine? Have you been to any such Readers’ meet ups? Would love to hear.
