{FEATURED STORE} Les Nereides comes to Dubai

Bonjour lovely people of the Sheikhland!
Yes … yours truly is in Parisian moods. Thanks to this new luxury costume jewellery brand that has hit the Sheikhland all the way from Paris.
Les Nereides recently opened its first ever store in Middle East in Dubai in CityWalk.
Pascale and Enzo, along with their children create handmade luxury costume jewellery under this label.
The jewellery is inspired by seasons, animals, travel, fairy tales, flowers, fruit and the beauty of it is that every piece of jewellery they create is unique as it is all handmade.
Handmade and such intricate details … sigh!
My favourite piece was this pair of earrings with flamingos. Now isn’t that reeeeally pretty?
Oh wait … well I also loved this pumpkin ring with a little sparkly Cindrella shoe in it.
Well well well …. how can I not love this gorgeous ballerina pendent?
So, if you too are mad about jewellery like me and like it to be unique, you cannot afford to miss checking out Les Nereides in City Walk.

{FOOD} Spice & Ice – A Review

When it comes to food, the Sheikhland ensures you have a zillion options to explore. But what is amazing is that there are some hidden gems in the city, which are always a delight to discover.
Spice and Ice in JLT is one such restaurant that I happened to explore recently and was impressed with their creative take on the Indian food with regards to some dishes that I tried.
The ambience is not amazingly lavish but pleasant. I tried their mocktail called – ‘Sundown’ with passion fruit and quite liked it. Was refreshing but not overloaded with sugar.
The dishes I tried were:
* Cocktail paneer (AED 36) – Loved the presentation of this dish in a martini glass. I had never had the combination of paneer, curry leaves and raddish. Tasted delicious!
* Parmesan Broccolli (AED 40) – I wish this dish tasted as good as it looked. It was too cheesy for my liking.
*Bhatti Paneer (AED 62) – This dish was pretty yum and rich with cashew nut gravy.
* Crispy Vegetable Envelope (AED 62) – This was just their star dish according to me. It looks amazing with so many different colours on your plate. It is pickled veggies wrapped in filo pastry served with couscous and mango moilee. It just tasted ahhhmazing. I have never had something like that before and so full marks for creativity here.
* Dal Makhani (AED 30) – Loved the dal – was light, not too oily or creamy and very yummy.
I was vegetarian for the day but the chicken kebabs looked pretty tempting.
So, the good thing about this place is that whether you are a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian, there are loads of options for either.
Now for the desserts, I absolutely loved the Mango shrikhand (AED 48). The Gulkand Kulfi was quite nice with the rose after taste.
So, all in all, Spice and ice is totally worth a try They are running a lot of promotions too at the minute. You can also make use of Entertainer vouchers here.

{BEAUTY} Garnier Micellar Water – A Review

Sheikhland is one happening city, where one event follows another. What I enjoy the most about the events is getting ready for them and to try new make up looks but what I hate the most is the part where at the end of the tiring day, you have to put in so much effort to get rid of all the make up.
And so I was delighted to discover a hidden drugstore gem which saves me good 20 minutes of removing make up in the night by making it a super-easy task and which is becoming very popular in the beauty community.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing water it is ladies!
But before I go any further on my review of this product, let us see what micellar water actually means.
Micellar water is made up of micelles (tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules) suspended in soft water. And if you want to read in depth about how it works, check out this on Huffingtonpost.com –
It is easily comparable to the famous Bioderma makeup remover but at a drugstore price.
I used to be very loyal to the Bioderma makeup remover and this was after trying quite a few other makeup removing products in the market. So, I was pretty surprised … well pleasantly surprised to see such an amazing dupe for it in the drugstore.
You get 400 ml of product, costs AED 36 and it lasts for 200 uses on an average. The product is pretty gentle on the skin and you don’t have to scrub your face with it. But it doesn’t completely remove waterproof mascara that well. But other than that it pretty much breaks down your makeup. And icing on the cake is that no rinsing is required after using it.
You get a mini size too which is great for travel. What is great about it is that, it doesn’t leave my face feeling dry, but in fact makes my skin feel both clean and moisturised after I use it.
All in all, a product totally worth trying. Infact Garnier has recently come out with another version of the micellar water, which is their oil-infused micellar water and I am so looking forward to try that too.
So, until I see you in my next post, take good care of yourself and never ever sleep with make-up on.

{BEAUTY} How to Apply Lipstick like a Pro

My obsession with lipsticks is no news. And the fact that my belief in this piece of colour is as strong as some of the greatest women achievers have had, makes me have much more confidence in how a lipstick can change your confidence game.
There are days when I feel so down and out but as soon as I put a bright lipstick on, it works like magic and changes my mood. Whether I want to play a subtle nerdy look or a sexy mama or the girl next door, a lipstick in the correct shade does wonders to make me just look the way I want to. Such is the power of lipsticks. And today we are going to talk about a brand which is nothing else but lipsticks … well let me call it ‘awesome lipsticks’ and can’t be better a name than ‘Lipstick Queen; for it. What say you?
So, recently I had the pleasure of being invited to a Lipstick application masterclass by Celebrity makeup artist Sarah Jane, in collaboration with ‘Lipstick Queen’. As cool as this brand is, as cool is the story of the woman behind it – Poppy King. Well, for the story, go ahead and google but cannot not ention her famous quote on the lipsticks, which I so agree with –
It doesn’t just brighten up my face, it fires up my confidence, making me feel like I can take on the world! My mission is to help you feel the same way! Ever since I fell in love with the transformational power of a simple slick of lipstick, I’ve been obsessed with finding the perfect textures and shades to express every facet of a woman’s personality. There’s a lipstick for every mood, every occasion and every outfit and I am devoted to helping you find them.”

– Poppy King

So much so I love lipsticks, I never knew the tips and tricks for that flawless lipstick application and I am glad to  my rescue came Celebrity makeup artist Sarah Jane, who has done makeup for various Hollywood movies and editorials. The icing on the cake was to be able to play with the interesting range of lipsticks from Lipstick Queen, whilst learning how to master the art of applying it.

So here are some tips that I learnt  to achieve that perfect pout.

1. Scrub your lips before applying a matte or liquid lipstick. (Rodial does a great lip scrub in a pen form, easy to apply and carry it around)

2. Sometimes lips have a grey or brown undertone. Apply foundation on the lips to even out the undertones.

3. Use a lip-liner to line your lips and fill your lips in with it. It helps to stay the lipstick put for a long time and helps avoiding bleeding of lipstick too.

(Lipstick queen does a very cool invisible liner – absolutely worth checking out)

4. Apply lipstick and then buff it with powder after covering your lips with a tissue. It helps in getting the excess lipstick off and provides a beautiful finished look.

6. To fill in the corners properly, use an angled brush.

5. If you want to make your lips look fuller, apply highlighter on the cupids bow and around the mouth.

Talking about what I love about Lipstick queen lipsticks now: they do some very cool treatment lipsticks that keep your lips moisturised whilst adding some colour. By the way, this range looks super cool – Hello Sailor (Blue), Frog Prince (Green) and Bete Noire (Blackberry)

If you apply them before applying a matt lipstick, it helps your lips against dryness. By the way, the matt range of LQ looks super-glam and the best thing about it is that the lipsticks contain Vitamin E and Apricot Oil to ensure that lips remain moisturized and supple. The final addition of Peppermint Oil adds a clean and subtle scent.

Also I find their glosses from the ‘seven deadly sins’ pretty interesting as they claim a Rich, dramatic coverage with a weightless, non-sticky textureUltra-glossy formula hydrates and protects with Cranberry Oil, Vitamin E, Shea Butter and Rosemary Extract for a truly tempting pout:Tantalizing, trendsetting shades that are wickedly wearable.

Wow … I am so excited to try out all the above and share my views with you in this space. For now, I hope you enjoyed the tips in here. What are your favourite lipsticks? Do you have any lovely tip for lipstick application? Do share it in the comments.

So, until I see you next, take care, stay beautiful and flaunt a sexy pout with the brightest lipstick. Life is too short to have boring lips.

{Beauty} Sally Hansen Launches a Limited Edition Nudes Collection

Sipping on a watermelon and mint cooler on this very hot summer afternoon in the Sheikhland, I say hello to all you lovely people from the blogosphere. Hope all is well. Summer is in full bloom in my corner of the world and it is torturous to go out for a walk for even 5 minutes. Talk about the dreadful Dubai heat but in this blog post, I am going to talk about some very cool nail paint shades from the Sally Hansen Nudes collection, which is a limited edition.

Call it a coincidence but it is nudes and pastels that I am loving for my nails this summer and so when I got sent these nail paints by Sally Hansen, I was absolutely excited to try out this range.

I simply love how elegant and chic a nude nail paint looks and the best part is that it matches with anything and everything that you wear.

That’s why Sally Hansen has dedicated a whole collection to these beauty favorites: The limited Nudes Collection consists of six soft nude shades that flatter any complexion and skin tone.

Rather the Snow White type? Then you should choose nude tones with delicate shades of pink.

“Sweet Talker” and “Pink Pong” emphasize the pink undertone of your skin without letting it appear pale.

“Almost Almond” and “Brown Nose” are the ideal companions for medium skin colors and provide the nails with a shiny “kissed by the sun” look.

“Camelflage” and “Branch Out” perfectly match darker skin tones. A light, creamy color and a dark chocolate create a warm and feminine effect – and result in a delightful decorative contrast.

The limited Sally Hansen Nudes Collection from the Complete Salon Manicure Series with itstrademark 7-in- 1-formula will be available in June 2016.

On Counter: June

Price: 39 AED

Point of Sales: Wojooh, Lifestyle, Carrefour

So hurry up ladies and grab your hands on this gorgeous limited edition before it goes off the counters and do stay tuned to check out my ‘nailfies’ wearing these on my Instagram here and on my Snapchat at @ChandniLahoti.
